Friends,
It’s come to my attention that there was a scoring error made during the Advanced Mixed Double’s portion of last Saturday’s tournament which affected the final outcome of the match. I deeply regret the mistake and wish that I had caught it sooner. As is customary, final results cannot be changed after scores have been submitted at the end of the day by the tournament director.
In the interest of full transparency, here’s what happened:
One of Mike S & Jenna E’s wins during the round robin portion of the competition was inadvertently entered as 11 instead of 9. This is understandable, given the strange format we used due to the rain delay. However, I should have caught this error BEFORE the medal shoot out matches.
With the correct scores entered, the Advanced Mixed Pink Pool results would have been as follows:
- Brian M & Nikki J: 4 wins, 1 loss (total points: 38 — 9, 9, 9, 9, 2)
- Paul D & Nicole N: 3 wins, 2 losses (total points: 41 — 9, 9, 9, 8, 6)
- Jason R & Nancy R: 3 wins, 2 losses (total points: 41 — 9, 9, 9, 7, 7)
- Mike S & Jenna E: 3 wins, 2 losses (total points: 40 — 9, 9, 9, 8, 5)
Paul & Nicole would have finished in a tie with Jason & Nancy. The third tie breaker, after GAMES WON and TOTAL POINTS is HEAD-TO-HEAD results. Paul & Nicole beat Jason & Nancy during the round robin which means that PAUL DIETER & NICOLE NEDERVELT would have advanced to the bronze medal match.
I’ve been in contact with Nicole and Paul to offer my apologies and both responded with enormous generosity and kindness. We all agree that the bronze medal match was incredibly fun to watch and that’s a win for all of us. Thanks, everyone, for your understanding.
Nancy (along with Amy & Rosina)
